Blog Post - Cardboard Campout!

Troop 2000 had our annual Cardboard Campout at Otter Creek Lake and Park in Toledo, IA. We drove to the building on Friday and everyone brought snacks to share in a big cracker barrel meal. After we ate, everyone grabbed the cardboard and duct tape they wanted to use that was provided and started building their fort. We then put all our stuff in the fort and started playing games.

Some of us were inside playing card games and board games and the others were playing football and other games outside.

When it got late, we started snacking and people started to go to sleep. Most of the adults and some kids slept inside and the others slept in their cardboard box. When we woke up on Saturday, we cooked breakfast inside and started working on the Environmental Science Merit Badge.

We ate lunch then continued with the Merit Badge, then played games until dinner. After dinner everyone started  going to sleep since we had to wake up early to get home. Most of the kids slept inside that time because it was freezing outside, but the most daring slept outside. Everyday you sleep outside counts as a camping night. When we woke up n Sunday everyone took apart their carboard forts and headed home.

The most memorable thing for me was when we were sleeping in the cardboard box and talking with everyone in there late into the night.
