Blog Post - Merit Badge Mania

Troop 66 hosted a fun day of merit badge classes taught by professionals who work in the fields related to the badges and involved with scouting. It was at Monticello High School in Monticello Iowa. A lot of merit badges were offered, everything from Eagle requireds like Citizenship in the Nation to non requireds like mammal study and chess.

First we drove to the high school. We checked in and went into the beginning assembly to find our merit badge councilers and classes. Depending on what badges you did, you could do one for the whole day or multiple throughout the day. We worked on our merit badges until lunch, then we went to the cafeteria and ate tacos. After that we went back to our merit badge classes. If you did all the pre requisites, then you were able to finish the entire badge and get it that same day.

Over all it was a very fun day. My favorite part was learning a bunch of new stuff during the merit badge classes.
