Enjoy some time on the Maquoketa River and two nights of camping May 19-21 when Troops 2000 and 270 stay at Central Park near Central Junction, Iowa.
Canoeing will occur on Saturday morning and into the afternoon, an approx. 8 mile route on the Maquoketa River.
Scouts will have an opportunity to complete rank advancement and merit badge requirements (completing this trip meets req. 9b4 of Camping Merit Badge).
All participants (adults included) must wear lifejackets, pass a swim test, and be experienced in canoeing. Experience may include one of the following: have already earned Canoeing MB, participated in a previous canoe trip with scouting, or complete canoe prep training sessions (will be planning to schedule one prior to this trip).
Scouts under 14 need to be accompanied by their adult in their canoe, so a parent/guardian should plan to attend with them. The cost is $35 for Scouts and $35 for adults.
