Camp Eastman 2023!

 

From July 2nd-8th, we'll be headed to Camp Eastman, overlooking the Mighty Mississippi. Sign up and have $$ in your scoutbucks account by 4/9 for the early bird base cost of $350 ($380 after). This is the only BSA camp on the Mississippi River and boasts some cool boating merit badges. Other than the boat docks near the river, all of the other program areas of camp are located pretty close together making it easy to transition from one class to another. Great for new scouts.

Check out the schedule of available merit badges and other activities here. Make your plans for what you want to do each of the 4 sessions (maybe the evening too) and have that ready when you register. Note that some classes carry an extra fee for kits or ammunition.

Here are some other things to know:

• Camp Eastman is across the river from Keokuk in Illinois
• We will leave at 9am (pack a sack lunch), July 2nd and return around 10am, July 8th
• There are separate classes focusing on 2nd Class & 1st Class ranks
• Scouts that already have Swimming MB should take advantage of the river access
• Unless you sign up for Cooking MB, you won't have to cook. Breakfast & Lunch are grab-and-go. You can eat in the dining hall if you want. Supper will be a buffet line and salad bar in the dining hall.
• Gaga pit, giant chess, basket ball, volley ball & soccer available
• 9 hole disc golf course
• We'll be in Squirrels Nest campsite. This is near the shower house and pool. It is a little closer to the main part of camp than where we've stayed in past year.

Please make note again of the Early Bird Rate of $350 for the camp fee if you sign up here and have at least that much money in your scoutbucks account by 4/9/23.
