February 17th - 19th (17th is a ICCSD no school day)
Troop 2000 scouts will be traveling to Climb Iowa’s Grimes location to earn the Climbing Merit Badge. Under the guidance of Cimb Iowa instructors, scouts will learn about several different aspects of climbing including knots, climbing gear, belaying, and repelling. Cost includes climbing, harness rental, shoe rental and instruction. Must be 11 or older to participate in this MB Class.
This class has a max number of 14 scouts. Signup will be first come first serve and will close on January 31. No refunds once signup closes (but you could find another scout to take your spot). All scouts attending will take part in the Merit Badge class even if they already have the Merit Badge.
Friday and Saturday lodging: We will be staying in Thomas Lodge at Mitigwa Scout Reservation
Saturday morning MB program will run from 8am - 1pm at Climb Iowa.
Saturday afternoon/evening will be a dutch oven cookoff between patrols/teams at the lodge.

Scouts will need to review all the MB requirements before arriving and be prepared to discuss.
Requirements #1 and #2 are not covered at Climb Iowa. Climb Iowa will focus on the technical skills involving a climbing wall and climbing specific equipment. If time allows, focus will be given to the remainder of the course work. Any climbing specific skills that are left unfulfilled will need to be scheduled as a private lesson with Climb Iowa staff. Cost is $50/hour. Provided scouts are prepared, there is ample time to finish all requirements except requirement #1 & #2.
We will be covering requirements #1 and #2 of the Climbing Merit Badge in an upcoming meeting as well as dutch oven cookoff planning.
