Troop 2000 has the opportunity to have a modified lock-in and will combine it with a merit badge clean-up event at Mid-Prairie HSEC, 1592 Angle Road SW, Kalona, IA. This event will be a hybrid offering, some items on-line and some items in person.
The lock-in aspect is modified because Scouts will not stay overnight hours at a facility (they will be at home), but they will have the opportunity to enjoy typical lock-in activities (gaming, board games, snacks, open gym, etc). Merit Badge clean-up is an opportunity to connect MBC to work on partial merit badges to try and get them to completion. MBCs will have both on-line and in person “office hours” to work with Scouts. Cost is $20 per scout and adults are free. We will need many adults present both on-line and in-person. Scouts should bring along: face masks, reusable water bottle, MB workbooks if doing MB clean-up, snacks of choice, work gloves & boots, board/card games, entertainment systems for gaming. Mask and social distancing precautions will be in place.
Rough agenda for the event, some items still pending:
Friday evening - Zoom “office hours” with MBC to wrap up any partial MB requirements
Saturday
Morning - 5 mile hike in NL/CV/IC area
Noon - eat lunch on your own
After lunch, drive on own to Mid-Prairie HSEC near Kalona
Afternoon service project followed by gaming and/or open gym time
Dinner - pizza
After dinner - gaming or open gym time or MB clean-up time in classrooms
Maybe a movie in gym
10pm parents pick Scouts up
Sunday afternoon - Swimming Merit Badge pool time at Diventures (pending)
Sign up sheet, deadline to sign up March 17th. **Tip, pull your progress report off Troopmaster and review your partial merit badges before you go to the sign up link. You will be asked to list the requirements you are hoping to get signed off... this will take a little effort and time before you can list it on the Google form.**
