The Troop 2000 March trip will be to Manitowoc, Wisconsin to visit the Wisconsin Maritime Museum and to spend the night aboard the US Cobia Submarine. The US Cobia is the nation's most completely restored WWII Submarine. The troop will also take a tour of Lambeau Field in Green Bay, the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay and the Henry Vilas Zoo in Madison, Wisconsin. Registration is open now.
Join Troop 2000 as they head off for an urban adventure in Wisconsin.
First stop, Manitowoc, where you’ll spend the night aboard the submarine USS Cobia.
Next stop, Green Bay, where you’ll tour the frozen tundra
of Lambeau field, home of the Green Bay Packers.
Then, a private tour of the National Railroad Museum, before heading to the
Econo Lodge for some fun in the pool before retiring.
Sunday morning, it’s off to Madison for a tour of the Henry Vilas Zoo,
before returning to Coralville.
The Wisconsin Maritime Museum's USS Cobia Overnight Education
Program offers people a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience
first-hand a taste of submarine life. The program offers not only an
educational alternative to the traditional camp-out, it also facilitates
an appreciation of history and insight into a unique time in America's
past. Overnight participants will receive a guided tour
and overnight accommodation on board a World War II submarine. In
addition to undertaking various educational activities, participants
will be offered special supervised access to some non-public areas of
the submarine and admission to the museum.
Who: Troop 2000 Scouts and incoming Webelos and parents/leaders
When: March 23-25, 2018. Departure for the trip will require getting out of school at noon
Cost: $199 for scouts and $50 for adults. The cost includes all meals but Saturday night. No refunds after deadline unless a scout takes your place.
